Key to my Heart

Greetings Bloggers!,

I hope you are all enjoying your weekend.  Mine is full of Clarity - I did a Claritystampers East workshop today in Bawburgh and I am doing another one tomorrow in Great Blakenham.  I always enjoy them, such lovely ladies attend!  I will blog about that soon, but for now here is one of the DT cards from last month

This one was a bit of a departure for me.  I actually got my melt pot out of its box!!  I hadn't used it before, so it was quite exciting!
I thought that this stamp in particular would look good done with UTEE (Ultra thick embossing enamel).
It took me several goes, but I was quite happy with the result.

The frame is simply stamped with some of the other key stamps which were part of the set.
Then Dean said it looked like a lump of rock.  Oh well.......!

Hope you  like it
Enjoy the rest of the weekend xxx

Diva Red Workshop

Morning again folks!

Two posts in one weekend!  It is so nice to be able to load the photos easily again, I thought I would do a bit of catching up.  The trouble I have been having has put me off a bit!
The first Saturday of the month is when Moira and I do the Diva Red workshops, we have a lovely group of ladies who join us.
These are the cards I did for the workshop this time.

The first card is made using a Clarity stencil and the Mini letterbox set

The second card is made with the lovely filigraphy leaves and sprig stamps and one of the shapes aperture stencils, again all from Clarity

One of the lovely things about this group is that no-one does as they are told - so we always end up with lots of variation on the cards, which is one of the things I most enjoy - seeing what colour combinations and different layouts people use.

Thanks very much for visiting

Love in Paris

Morning all,

I hope you are all enjoying the weekend so far.  I have been having trouble with my blog, mainly with uploading photos, so I have just installed Chrome as my browser, so we will see how that goes!
For this card, I used the Paris skyline mask, the seaweed stencil and the Love remountable set, all from Clarity

I started with the Skyline - I covered the top part of the card with the mask and brushed ink onto theuva card. I also used a piece of copy paper to mask off the bottom of the page.

Then I used the seaweed stencil to create the waves

I stamped the love and couple in the boat and the birds and added a moon.

Nice and simple!

Hope you like it

Thanks for visiting,   Janet xx

PS No trouble with the photos....so far xx

Heart of flowers

Happy Sunday folks,

I hope you are all having a fab weekend!  I am off to do a bit of card-making with a group of friends this afternoon.  We usually have a good time - lots of chat too!

Today's card is one of those that is very simple in design, but it needs to be perfect or it will look awful!  The main issue is with speckles from embossing powder - I used gold embossing powder on black card - a recipe for disaster unless you can get rid of the specks - especially if it gets shown on TV when they are magnified!!
So the answer is lots of anti-static on the card before you start - I have found that talc works better than the anti-static pads.  The only trouble is that it leaves your black card looking grey, so you have to give it a polish after you have heated the powder, but make sure it has time to cool and set first, otherwise you smudge the image (ask me how I know....)

So having embossed the heart stamp and the words in gold, I just coloured in with mica paints - the iridescent ones that all look a slightly different shade of white until you put them on dark card.

The gold edge is done with a gold krylon pen and the corners are decorated with gold nail heads.

Once again apologies for the strange layout - I am having problems loading photos on to the blog - the normal link I use has stopped working and I am trying (not very successfully!!) to find other ways.  This all started when I got the latest version of Internet Explorer - I think it isn't properly compatible with blogger!
Anyway, I hope you like the card, there is a better picture on my facebook page.
Both stamps used are from Claritystamp - the heart is called Garden Heart
and the words are the Kind Heart Verse They are from a poem:

Kind hearts are the gardens,
Kind thoughts are the roots,
 Kind words are the flowers,
Kind deeds are the fruits,
Take care of your garden
And keep out the weeds,
Fill it with sunshine,
Kind words, and Kind deeds.”

Henry Wadsworth Longfellow (1807-1882)

Nice
Take care and enjoy the rest of the weekend

Fly Away.........

Happy New Year to you all,

Sorry it is a bit late, I can't believe we are so far into January already - time whizzes by doesn't it?

This is the first of the card samples for the last TV show.  It didn't get shown, because the stamps all sold out so quickly!

I used the wonderful new Filigraphy balloon stamps and the fab Pine forest mask (that is going to become a very firm favourite!!) All from Clarity.  I liked both the smaller silhouette and the larger balloon, so thought I would get them both in on the card.

I started by masking the three small and one large rectangles, then I used a brush to ink the rest of the card.
Once I was happy with the coverage, I removed the masks and stamped the silhouette balloons in place in the smaller rectangles.
in the main rectangle, I brushed green and brown ink through the Pine Forest mask, then stamped the balloon in place.
I added a bit of blue in all the areas, for the sky and squiggled round the frames with a fine brown pen, to add a bit of definition.
I was quite happy with the card now, but just wanted to add a bit more under the main image - my default setting is to put  three card candy, which is what I nearly did.  However I was listening to John Denver while I was making this and he sang a lovely song called 'Fly Away' - very appropriate!!
Sorry for the weird spacing on this post, it all looks fine when I am typing it out, but once it is posted, it gets very spread out - no idea what is going on there!
Hope you all have a wonderful 2014
Janet xx
